Obituary of William Robert Caswell

William Robert (Bob) Caswell, 84, husband of Betty Phillips Caswell, went to be with Jesus September 25, 2014, after a long illness. He was born in Danville, KY, to the late W. R. Caswell Sr. and Margaret Dowd Gehrig.
He was a graduate of Saint Petersburg High School in Saint Petersburg, FL, served in the US Navy during the Korean War, as well as the US Army Reserve, and was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, where he had formerly served as Leader of the Faith, Hope & Love SS Class. He was active in the electrical profession in roles ranging from Electrician, Estimator, and Contractor. Bob was also a member of the Mercer Masonic Lodge #777 and the Oleika Shrine Temple, where he served as Clown Director, Commander of the Legion Honor, Treasurer, and Potentate, as well as a member of the Royal Order of Jesters Court 121. He was a KY Colonel. Bob loved his family and friends, especially Lynn Noble and the late Kelly Moore, also known as the three amigos, along with his animals, music, fishing, gardening, and reading.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Pam (Jerry) Schwendeman and Jan (Jim) Kemper, Lexington, KY; five grandchildren, Colleen (Joey) Miller, Joe Schwendeman, Jake Schwendeman, Scott Kemper, Kristin (Matt) Howard; nine great grandchildren, Lea & Alyssa Kemper, Joey, Megan, & Molly Miller, Luke & Avery Schwendeman, and Will & Josie Howard. He was preceded in death by his step mother, Maddie Caswell, his step father, Ronnie Gehrig, three great granddaughters, Emma, Gillian, & Madison Miller, and a brother, Jerry Caswell.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, by Robert Defoor. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Saturday at Ransdell's.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospital For Children, 1900 Richmond Rd. Lexington, KY 40502-1204.
Our heartfelt thank you to the staff at VA Hospital, especially Kelly and Terry for their dedicated service in caring for our loved one.
Pallbearers will be: Scott Miller, Joe Schwendeman, Jake Schwendeman, Joey Miller, Matt Howard, and Eddie Sherrow. Honorary bearers will be members of the Harrodsburg Baptist Faith Hope & Love SS Class and Oleika Shrine Temple Past Potentates & Ladies.
