James Davis Lawson, 74, Harrodsburg, KY, brother of Joy Stevens, died Tuesday at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center. Born December 14,1940, in Harrodsburg, KY, to the late Edwin Lawson and the late Doris (Ransdell) Burgin. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp, having serviced during the Cuban Crisis. He attended the Bohon Church of Christ and was a member of the Mercer Masonic Lodge 777 F&AM and the Mercer County Singles club. James was a retired insurance salesman. Survivors include: a daughter, Brandi L. York of Overland Park, KS; one son, Michael Dale Lawson of Boise, ID; three sisters, Joy (Joe) Stevens of Harrodsburg, Joyce (Ernie) Thomas and Edwina (Mack) Reynolds; an aunt, Naomi Ransdell Pittman of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Saturday, 10 am - 2 pm at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY. Pallbearers will be: Joe Stevens, Billy Ransdell, David Ransdell, Larry Peyton, Ricky Peyton, Steve Peyton, Kevin Perkins, Austin Schooler and John Perkins. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday; January 31 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Herbie Goff and Julius Hovan. Burial will military honors follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
