MINA REA JONES PERLOW Mina Rae Jones Perlow, age 94, Downers Grove, IL, wife of Gilbert J. Perlow, died Monday, April 19, 2004 at her home in Downers Grove. Born July 14, 1909 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Beriah and Violet Carter Jones. She attended Centre College in Danville and graduated in the class of 1931 where she received an AB Degree and was a Phi Beta Kappa recipient. She received an MA Degree from Pennsylvania State University and her PhD in Chemistry from the University of Chicago. The Perlow’s recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. During World War II she worked at the War Production Board in Washington, D.C. and after the war she worked for Mossbauer Effect at Argonne National Laboratory near Downers Grove, IL. She was active in the League of Women Voters and an enthusiastic sailor. Survivors besides her husband include a brother David C. Jones, Harrodsburg, and three generations of nieces nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Sunday, April 25th at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Dr. J. Robert Ross. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Centre College or to the charity of one’s choice.
