Joseph Franklin Smith, 59, Harrodsburg, KY, husband of Rita Ann Hedgespeth Smith, died Monday at the Haggin Memorial Hospital, Harrodsburg, KY. Born June 10,1957, in Harrodsburg, to the late Lillard and Jean (Hatchett) Smith Jr.
Joe was the Owner and Operator of Triple S Transportation Company & Hassco Company, both in Springfield. He was a member of the Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church and the Magnolia Masonic Lodge #201.
He is survived by: his wife: Rita Ann (Hedgespeth) Smith, two daughters: Kelly (Justin) Bell of Harrodsburg, and Katie (Will) King of Lawrenceburg, and one son: Andy (Anna) Smith of Columbus, OH, two sisters: Mary Jane (Larry) Scott, and Dawn (Bill) Pettus of Springfield, and two brothers: Jim (Mary Alice) Smith of Mackville, and John Smith of Louisville, three grandchildren, Jonah Bell, Henry Bell and Mallory King.
Visitation will be 5-8 pm, with Masonic Rites at 7:30, Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers will be: Jackie Major, Joe Auberry, Larry Scott, Clinton Peavler, Howard Wohner, Russell Burkhead, Lynn Nichols and Edwin Hamilton. Honorary bearers will be: Mark Nally, Joe Hawkins, Lowell Peavler, Barry Peavler, Todd Hamilton, Kenny Brown, Darrell Derringer, Jeff Bradley and Rodney Compton.
Funeral service will be held 1 pm Thursday; July 7, 2016 at the Barry Vandivier Center, Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church, 176 Bruner's Chapel Rd., Mackville Road, Harrodsburg, by Bob White and Tony Smith. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
