Obituary of John Louis Daugherty

John Louis Daugherty was born in Burgin, KY, on Jan. 29, 1926 and died on July 12, 2016.
He was the son of Samuel Kincaid and Pearl Conley Daugherty.
Louis graduated from Harrodsburg High School and served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII, and was part of the invasion of Luzon Gulf and the liberation of the Philippines.
His entire working career was with Kentucky Utilities as a Serviceman in Harrodbsurg. Following retirement, Louis became what he referred to as a "handyman" and helped many, many people throughout the community.
He was a former elder in the Harrodsburg Community Church and was instrumental in the building of the church. He was a member of the Porter Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington, KY, for several years.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, Lucille Cox Yocum, Ruth Sanders, Irene Cunningham, Dorothy Finnell, and Gertrude Sageser, as well as one brother, Sherrill Daugherty.
He is survived by: his wife, Dorothy Morgan Daugherty; four children, Mary Lu (Wayne) Musick, James Louis Daugherty, Anne Forrest (Steve) Byrd, and John Morgan Daugherty; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-8 PM Frid., July 22, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Sat., July 23, at the Harrodsburg Community Church, by Terry Morrison. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
