JULIUS HUNGATE


Julius Hungate, age 84, Mackville Road, Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.


Born August 19, 1919 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Henry and Cordelia Tyler Hungate.


He was a graduate of Rose Hill High School and Eastern Kentucky University; was a retired teacher for the Mercer County School System after 45 years, was an avid artist, musician, and fisherman; he was a member of the Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church where he also served as a choir member.


Survivors include; a sister Virgie Vandivier, Mercer County; a nephew, Barry Vandivier, Mercer County and a number of cousins.


Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, May 15th at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Rev. Greg Humpert. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery.


Pallbearers are: Larry Camic, Darryl Catlett, Mike Camic, Brian Stewart, John Harlow and Brent Steel. Honorary bearers will be members his Sunday School Class at Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church, Fred Purvis, and Kermit Logue.


Visitation will be after 5:00 pm Friday and after 7:30 am Saturday at the chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to Gideon’s International, Post Office Box 176, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.
