Charles Leslie Grigsby, 65 of Rockdale, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Little River Hospital in Rockdale, Texas. Charles was born September 29, 1951 in Harrodsburg, Kentucky to Bud and Dee Grigsby. He worked on the Rail lines for many years, before taking a job with the Kentucky Department of Transportation. After a brief retirement in Kentucky, he moved to Texas to work for Becon Construction Inc. He has lived the past 10 years in Rockdale, during which time he worked construction in the area prior to retiring again. He and Carla Marie Shenault were married February 10, 1979 in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Throughout his life, Charles was a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, was a Kentucky Colonel, and served as a leader within the Boy Scouts of America where he was also an Eagle Scout. He played rhythm guitar on the worship team at The Carpenter’s Christian Church, and enjoyed amateur stock car racing. Charles was affectionately known as “Cowboy” to many of his friends. He was loved by many, and he will be missed. Charles is survived by his wife, Carla Marie Grigsby of Harrodsburg; a son, Charles J. Grigsby of Boynton Beach, Florida; and his mother, Dee Young of Leesburg, Florida. Local services will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery Pavilion in Harrodsburg, on Tuesday, November 15 at 1:00 p.m., under the care of Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
