Obituary of Curtis Ben Currens

Curtis Ben Currens, 97, Salvisa, KY, husband of Sonia Click Currens, died Saturday, December 31, 2016 in Salvisa. Born February 15, 1919, in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Leonard and Mary Holman Currens. He served during World War II in the Army, was a mechanic for Currens Garage, served as Chief of Salvisa Fire Dept. for 25 years and was also a member of the VFW. Other survivors include: One son: Barry Brent (Gloria) Currens of Harrodsburg, Daughter In Law; Eleanor Currens; 5 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchidren, Curtis was preceded in death by his son: William Leonard Currens, Sisters; Elsie Gritton, Dorothy Freeman, Fannie Broce, Brother: Otha Currens and Great Grandson: Sawyer Lee Currens. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 5 - 8 PM at Clay Lick United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be: William Jarrod Currens, Mason Hazelwood, Trent Hazelwood, Curt Whitaker, Kacy Satterly, LauraLee Currens and Wayne Whitaker. Honorary : Members Of The Mercer Fire Protection District. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 am at Clay Lick United Methodist Church by Lowell Langfeld and Shannan Blosser. Burial will follow in the New Providence Cemetery, Harrodsburg. The family request memorial donations be sent to Clay Lick United Methodist Church, 225 Clay Lick Church Rd., Salvisa, KY 40372 or Heritage Hospice, PO Box 1213, Danville, KY 40423. om
