Obituary of Harold Gene Hendren
Harold Gene Hendren 81, of Burgin, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville.
He was the son of the late Homer and Lillie Freeman and Golden Hendren and Gladys Helton Hendren Bailey.
He was a graduate of Rose Hill High School and attended Centre College. He retired from Corning Glass Works in Harrodsburg after 40 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
A lifelong Kentucky basketball fan, he traveled to 22 SEC tournaments with his friend Donald Wiley. He was an avid gardener who shared his bountiful tomato crop with family and friends.
Harold was a member of Burgin Baptist Church and a volunteer at the Christian Life Center.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved brother Burbon Freeman.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Doloris Hendren, daughters Harriett and Pam Hendren, half brothers Danny and Bobby Bailey, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services 1PM Wed. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Carl McRay. Visitation 5-8PM Tues., chapel. Burial in Burgin Memorial Garden.
