Obituary of James Martin Nichols
James "Nick" Nichols, 61, Harrodsburg, KY, husband of Beth Angela Babel Nichols, died Saturday, June 17, 2017, at his home, surrounded by family and friends. Born December 18, 1955, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Joe Ray Nichols and Betty Gene Wilkerson (Nichols) Ward.
He was a retired employee from the City of Danville after serving over 30 years as a 911 dispatcher, EMT, police officer, firefighter and Battalion Chief, and Utilities Inspector. He was a mixed martial arts competitor and enjoyed outdoor activities, construction, and poker.
Nick was a member of the Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church where he served on the Property Committee. He was also a U.S. Navy Veteran and member of the Red Knights Firefighters Motorcycle Club.
Other survivors include one daughter: Jayme (Brandon) Sallee of Georgetown, KY and four sons: Bryant (Megan) Nichols of Junction City, Vess Nichols, Fletcher Nichols, and Darius Nichols all of Harrodsburg, KY, one brother: J. Patrick Nichols of Orlando, FL, and sister-in-law: Gillie Nichols of Huntsville, AL; he also has eight grandchildren: Lillie, Levi, Carter, Izaac, Jaxson, Elijah, Kimberlynn and Monicka. He was preceded in death by a brother Michael Nichols of Huntsville, AL.
Visitation will be 5-8 PM Friday, June 23, 2017 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, and from 9 AM - 12 PM Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church. Funeral service is 12 PM, at the church.
