Obituary of Kathleen Long Newby

Kathleen Newby, 96, Harrodsburg, KY, widow of James H. Newby, died Saturday at the Charleston Health Care Center, Danville. Born May 25, 1921, in Washington County, to the late Ed and the late Addie (Royalty) Long.

She and her husband started Newby's Furniture & Discount House.

Kathleen is survived by: two daughters: Carolyn Joyce Dunning of Harrodsburg, KY and Frances Jane (Winston) Gouzoules of Greenland, NH, and two sons: James Marshall (Scotty) Newby and Jerry (Patricia) Newby of Harrodsburg, KY, two brothers: Ernest Long and Vernice Long of Harrodsburg, KY, nine (9) grandchildren; two (2) step  grandchildren; fourteen (14); great  grandchildren, three (3) great great grandchildren. Kathleen was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Leon Newby and two brothers: Elwood and Thurman Long and a sister, Virginia.

          Visitation will be 5 - 8 PM Wednesday; February 7 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel,  Harrodsburg, KY.

Pallbearers will be: Barry Newby, Shane Newby, Dustin Newby, Brent Newby, Todd Newby and Haydon Newby.

          Funeral service will be held 2 pm Thursday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by James Harley. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
