Obituary of George W. Brooks

          George W. Brooks, 91, Harrodsburg, widower of Margaret Sparks Brooks, died Sunday, February 4, 2018 in Harrodsburg. Born June 14, 1926, he was the son of the late David Brooks.      

          George served as a Tec Sgt. for the Army during World War II. He was a graduate of Forkland H.S., attended Georgetown College and received his BS & Masters from UK. He was a Teacher for the Taylor & Mercer Co. School Systems, a Deacon Emeritus at Harrodsburg Baptist Church, member of Masonic Lodge #777 F&AM and was a volunteer at Christian Life Center.

          George is survived by: one daughter: Margaret Brooks of Harrodsburg, two sons: George L. Brooks of Olney, MD and David Brooks of TN. Grandson: George S. Brooks. George was preceded in death by his Brother, David Brooks, Sisters: Mollie Snapp and Lucy Kirkland.

          Visitation will be Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 6-8 PM at Ransdell Funeral Chapel,  Harrodsburg. Pallbearers will be Church Deacons.

          Funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 9 at 1:00 pm at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Eddie Russell. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.

          The family request memorial donations be sent to Harrodsburg Baptist Church, 312 South Main Street, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.
