Robin and family,
I remember Charlie fondly as one of my colleagues while teaching at West Jessamine High. We would often talk during class changes, and he was always kind and calm and upbeat. One of my favorite memories is his often taping a Far Side cartoon to my classroom door, to give me a laugh for the day. I know he will be sorely missed, and am saddened at his passing.

Mr. Ison was my physics teacher my Senior Year, and it was great to be in his class. He never had a cross word, never had a harsh phrase, nor did he ever malign anyone in a negative manner, and he really helped me to better understand physics. I still tell my own students in my classes about the clock he reworked to run backwards, and some of his anecdotes. He made this world, and my high school education, so much better. My prayers are with his loved ones at this time. Mr. Charles Ison helped me become a better person, and a better teacher...

Oh, Mr. Ison! What a great teacher, with so much patience and a quick, easy laugh. I think the best symbol of his connection to his students was his phenomenal hearing. His skills as a teacher inspired me during my teaching career and beyond. Teachers change lives! Thank you, Charlie! The world was surely a better place because of your place in it. Rest now.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr Ison's passing, and hope his family finds comfort at this time. He was a very good teacher, and an even better person, whose gentle nature and generosity of spirit helped make all of us students better people. He left a positive imprint on me which has lasted a lifetime. He will be missed.

I am so sad to hear Mr. Soon has passed. Even though I wasn't his best student he tolerated my ineptness in his class. He was always trying to make chemistry fun and interesting. I do not remember him ever being impatient. I know you will dearly miss him.
Again accept my condolences in your loss.

Mr. Ison was the most influential teacher in my education, hands down. From his backwards clock to his dry sense of humor, I was always challenged to think deeper. I do what I do today because of fundamentals planted in Mr. Ison’s Lab. Forever appreciative and sad to say goodbye.

I am so terribly, terribly sorry. Mr. Ison was my favorite teacher in high school. He not only introduced me to the joys of chemistry and physics but recommended the book that has shaped the direction of my life: _Cry, The Beloved Country_ by Alan Paton.
I owe Charlie so very much! He brought wit, wonder, humor, and grace into the classroom every single day! And he shall always be for me a bright, shining light!

So many wonderful memories of Mr. Ison. He was the greatest. Chemistry and Physics class were fun because of him. I remember when his first son was born and the surprise baby shower we held for him during class. He always expected the best from his students and I do believe we all tried very hard to make him proud. Sorry for your loss, my prayers are with you and your family. JCHS Class of 1972.

Without a doubt my favorite teacher in high school. Had the best sense of humor and mixed it in well during class. Had a gift for making the difficult easier to understand. He treated us as adults as long as we acted like one.
Many fond memories and so sorry to hear of his passing

Prayers and thoughts to the entire Ison family. I remember him fondly as my chemistry and physics teacher in the late 70’s. He was a patient and understanding man that took the time for us all to learn and wonder. We young women were so very lucky to have a man like him encourage us to study the sciences during a time when most young women were being gently pushed toward business courses or the social sciences. Thank you Mr Ison for all youdid for me.
