Obituary of John B. Floyd Akers

John B. Floyd Akers, 90, Harrodsburg, widower of Irene Howell Akers, died Monday, April 23, 2018, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.

 

Born June 6, 1927, in Floyd Co., KY, he was the son of the late Farley and Ora (Akers) Akers. He was a retired Electrician for Local # 183 of I.B.E.W., and was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Danville. John was a marine veteran.

 

Survivors include: one daughter, Pam (Sammy) Sadler of Harrodsburg;  two sons, Laney (Susan) Akers of Lawrenceburg and David Akers of Lancaster; one sister, Mag Stalnaker of Zanesville, OH; two brothers, Brice (Faith) Akers of Harrodsburg and Clinton (Lucille) Akers of Nicholasville; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, John Akers Jr. and Danny Akers, and one grandchild.

Funeral services 1PM Thurs., Apr. 26, 2018, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Lewis Walter. Burial will follow in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, Nicholasville.  Visitation will be 11:00 AM  until  the hour of service Thursday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers are: Cody Sadler, Chris Lebanion, Seth Akers, Andrew Hurst, Jared Pinkston, Micah Akers and Jesse Lester
