I served with John on the Board of Centre College of Kentucky in the late 80’s and was impressed not only with what a true gentleman he was, but also with his ability to drill down to the important points of matters under discussion. My condolences to his family - I know you will miss him.

I am so sorry for your loss, and I am praying that God blesses you, Bibb, and your family. I was a junior in high school when you moved to Harrodsburg, and your parents meant so much to me for many years. Then when I returned to Mercer County in 1967, I came to know Bibb and Van.

It is difficult to sum up the life of a man who lived so long and did so many wonderful things for his family, his community and his country, someone who truly was a gentle gentleman, so let me just write these few very well-known but to me always powerful words:
Good-bye, you good and faithful servant.

Mr. Landrum was the most kind, considerate, and generous man that I have ever known. He had a heart of gold and would give you anything if he knew you needed it. I would talk to him at least once a week, he would call our office. He was always asking how i was and if i was feeling ok. I had the flu last winter and he would call almost every day just to see how I was.He was so thoughtful. I'm going to miss you Mr. Landrum heaven has certainly gained an angel. May you rest in peace.

I met the Landrums when I was 16 yrs old thru the Cummins family, who owned the local airport where John garaged his plane. I came to know them much better during the many hours/years we spent at the tennis courts &,his hanger, among other gathering places. They were some of the finest people I've been blessed to know. I will fondly remember John for his kindness and generosity. Godspeed, my friend.

Mr. and Mrs. Landrum were two of the first people I met when I returned to Harrodsburg in 2012. We went to lunch at the Beaumont. I was eager to learn as much as I could about the community and so tried to draw Mr. L. out regarding local politics, business, etc. He soon warmed up and eagerly offered me his opinion on any subject that came up. It was a lively conversation, and I enjoyed that lunch immensely. I guess Mrs. L. wasn't accustomed to hearing him go on like that. After lunch she told me " I don't know what you did, but you two talked more than any two men I've heard!" The insights and advice they offered me at that lunch have proved invaluable. Godspeed, Mr. L.
