Obituary of Roy Thomas Crutchfield
Roy Thomas Crutchfield, 85, Harrodsburg, KY, husband of Lavon Lane Crutchfield, died Saturday, October 13, 2018, at his home. Born January 21, 1933, in Buena Vista, KY, he was the son of the late James Thomas and Lillie (Meadows) Crutchfield.
Roy graduated from Anderson County High School, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean war, and was a member of the Porter Memorial Baptist Church. He was a former Kentucky State Police Trooper and retired from IBM Inc. as a Quality Control Inspector. Roy's roots were in farming, but he enjoyed fishing, boating and camping trips with his family. He followed Cincinnati Reds baseball and UK basketball. He loved, and was loved, by his family.
Roy is survived by: his wife, Lavon (Lane) Crutchfield; three daughters, Cheryl Barnes (Bill), Richmond, Joni Crutchfield and Lisa Stinnett (Richard), both of Harrodsburg; one sister, JoHannah Fain; three grandchildren, Kyle Kelley (Joy), Ariel Firby (Kenneth) and Merlin Barnes (Cindy); six great grandchildren, Kyla, Alec, Madelyn, Chloe, Christopher and David. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his brother, Robert O. Crutchfield and three sisters, Margaret Howard, Anna Mae Hawkins, and Ruth Hines.
Visitation will be from 11 AM until 1 PM Wednesday; October 17, 2018, at Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm Wednesday conducted by John David Lane. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers include: Richard Stinnett, Alec Kelley and Kyle Kelley.
