Obituary of Charlie Burton
Charles R. "Charlie" Burton, 80, Harrodsburg, husband of Marie Lucille Cole Burton, died Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at his home. Born April 8, 1938, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Raymond F. and Elizabeth (Bottoms) Burton. He was a retired Foreman for Atmos Energy, a member of the New Providence Presbyterian Church, and had served as a Little League Football and Baseball Coach for a number of years. Charlie was also a veteran of the US Army.
Other survivors include: one son, Charles R. "Bobby" Burton Jr. of Harrodsburg; one sister, Rose (Allan) Teele of Harrodsburg; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Raymond Burton Jr. and Juanita Wilder.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by James Byrd. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until the hour of service on Friday, Ransdell's.
Bearers are: Jack, Joe, Ed, and Raymond Burton, Debbie Norman, Mary Ann Baker, Michael Rogers, Daarik and Adam Gray, and Mike and Tony Wilder.
Honorary bearers: Donald Ross, Bobby Burchett, Franklin Cole, Johnny Rogers, Johnny Jordan, Butch Dunning, iBobby and Bennie Lykins, Peter Sherrow, J.C. Patterson, Jimmy Brown, Lonnie Campbell, Hershell Lawhorne, Hanley Watts, Wesley Phillips, Rose Marie Rogers, Jackie Freeman, Barbara Jo Faith, and Co-workers of Atmos Energy.
