Obituary of Ray Lathrem

Ray L. Lathrem, 84, Harrodsburg, KY, husband of Ellen Murray Lathrem, died Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at home.  Born November 18, 1934, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Samuel and Jewell Mae (Wise) Lathrem.

 

He owned and operated NU-Way Security Company, was a member of the Eller's Memorial Baptist Church and was a Navy veteran of the Korean war.  Ray was also an accomplished artist.

 

Other survivors include: two daughters, Shelia (Gordon) Hensley of Nicholasville, and Leisa Royse of Lexington; three sons, Anthony Lathrem of Salvisa, Richard Lee (Pam) Spain, II,  of Harrodsburg, and Steve (Martha) Lathrem of Owen County;  one sister, Joyce Ann Lathrem of Owen County; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.  He is predeceased by a brother, Ottis Lathrem.

 

Funeral services 12 Noon, Monday, May 6, 2019, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Darrell Hahn officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville, KY.  Visitation will be 5 - 8 PM Sunday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY.

 

Pallbearers: Lucas and Gavin Hensley, Austin, Cory, and Andrew Lathrem, and Richard Spain, III. Honorary bearers: Samuel Lathrem, Jason Wilson, Kevin Sallee, Dud Releford, Mike Skull, Mike Semones and Shaun Tharp.
