Obituary of Lavon Crutchfield
Lavon Lane Crutchfield, 84, Harrodsburg, KY, wife of the late Roy Thomas Crutchfield, died Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at her home. Born July 25, 1934, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late William Arthur and Beulah (Green) Lane.
Lavon graduated from Anderson County High School, attended radiology school in Cincinnati, Ohio and became an X-ray technician. She worked as a secretary at Begley's headquarters in Richmond, KY.She was a member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church, Danville.
Lavon had a gift of making people feel welcome and accepted. She was active in her church's women's circles when her children were young. She maintained a loving home for her husband and children, always ready for visits from her grandchildren then great grandchildren who were happy and excited to be with her. She loved flowers, especially irises. She loved the fishing and camping trips with her family. She enjoyed collecting pretty glassware. But above all she loved the Lord.
Lavon is survived by: two daughters, Cheryl Barnes (Bill), Richmond; Lisa Stinnett (Richard), Harrodsburg; two sisters, Betty Slusher and Brenda Jones; one brother, William Lane; three grandchildren, Kyle (Joy) Kelley, Ariel (Kenneth) Firby, and Merlin (Cindy) Barnes; six great grandchildren, Kyla, Alec, Madelyn, Chloe, Christopher, & David. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Joni Crutchfield, and her brother, Marion Lane.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Sat., May 25, 2019, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by John David Lane. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until the hour of service Saturday, Ransdell's.
Pallbearers are: Merlin Barnes, Kyle and Alec Kelley, and Richard Stinnett.
