Obituary of Maureen Theresa Shuck
Maureen Theresa Shuck, 88, Danville, widow of Thomas Shuck, died Monday, June 3, 2019, at home. Born January 2, 1931, in White Plains, NY, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Helene Frances (Brady) McDonnell. She was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church, White Plains, NY.
She loved the Catholic school she attended and going to the city and seeing Broadway shows. She also enjoyed her time working as a server at Howard Johnson’s during her teen and young adult years. She would tell stories of all the good times she had while working there and about all the interesting people she met, including one of her best friends, who was a hat and clothing designer. She was his “go to” model and she had fond memories of the times she modeled for him and of all the adventures they shared.
Always up for an adventure and ready to leave behind the cold New York winters, she and her sister moved to California. There, while playing volleyball on a beach in Santa Monica, she met the love of her life. They spent many wonderful years in California raising their two daughters and granddaughter.
She and her husband retired to Kentucky in 1992. In her later years, she was known for singing to everyone she met. She loved to make people smile and she will be greatly missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sharon (Phil) Cossentine of Danville; one sister, Sheila Quirion, five grandchildren, Kara Shuck, Robert Kiker, Caitlin Helms, Audra Cossentine, and Amanda Cossentine; three great grandchildren, Robert T. A. Kiker, Audrey Helms, and Katelynn Kiker. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Julia Kiker, and three siblings, Francis X. McDonnell, Helene Ghiazza, and Mona Coscia.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 PM, Friday, June 7, 2019, at Ebenezer Cemetery, Salvisa, KY. Visitation will be 11 AM until 1 PM, Friday, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg.
