Obituary of George Jay Carter III
George Jay Carter, III, 75, Lexington, KY, formerly of Huntington, WV, died Friday, November 29, 2019, at the Northpoint Lexington Healthcare Center, Lexington, KY. Born August 25, 1944, in Louisa (Lawrence Co.), KY, he was the son of the late George Jay Carter Jr. and the late Margaret (Frasher) Carter.
George was a retired school teacher and businessman in Wayne Co., WV, was a US Navy Corpsman and Veteran of the Vietnam War, and was a member of the Kenova 1st Presbyterian Church, Kenova, WV.
Survivors include: two sons, George Jay Carter, IV and John Michael Carter, both of OH; one sister, Joanne May of Daytona Beach, FL; one brother, Dr. Michael Carter of Campbellsville, KY; several grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December, 3, 2019, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM.
