MILTON L. CATLETT, JR.


Milton L. Catlett, Jr. age 77, Hycliff Street, Harrodsburg, widower of Sarah Kathryn Nichols Catlett, died Monday, September 13, 2004 at the Hospice Care Center of St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.


Born June 20, 1927 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Milton L. Catlett, Sr. and Nancy Elizabeth Murphy Catlett. He was a retired farmer, served as a clerk for local stockyards and tobacco warehouses, a director for the Farm Bureau and also served as a delegate to both state and national Farm Bureau conventions for many years, member of the Mercer Gideon’s Camp, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a charter member of the Harrodsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and treasurer.


Survivors include: two sons, Robert “Bobby” L. and his wife Rosa Catlett, Harrodsburg and Jerry Dale and his wife Cathy Catlett, Winchester; one daughter Penny Catlett, Harrodsburg; one brother Eugene Catlett, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Michelle C. Sims, Kattie, Catlett Jenkins, Audrey Catlett, Sarah Whiteside, Neal Catlett, and Matthew Catlett; three great grandchildren; and a sister-in law, Thelma Long. He was preceded in death by a brother Craig Catlett.


Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, September 16th at the Harrodsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church by Geoffry Barrett and Alma Catlett. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.


Pallbearers are: Mark Trayner, Hugh Phillips, Carroll Gritton, Miller Horn, Sherman McMichael, and Daryl Catlett. Honorary bearers are: Nicky Long, Ralph Trayner, Phillip Catlett, Mike Catlett, Kellie Harris, Kalyn Catlett.


Visitation will be after 4:30 on Wednesday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel and after 9:00 am Thursday at the Church.


Memorial contributions are suggested to Gideon’s International, Harrodsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Memorial Fund, or to one’s favorite charity.
