Many times Bucky would be at the R&Y market and usually Kenny Ray was right there with him. However, the last time I saw Bucky and Kenny Ray was in Lawrenceburg at Jerry’s house on Gilbert’s Creek. We laughed about our younger days and how the responsibilities were nothing compared to now. This was before Bucky retired. It was the last time I saw either of them, I take peace knowing Bucky and Kenny Ray are in heaven hanging out together.

I’ve known Bucky and family all my life and love all. I hadn’t talked to him in a while. I was shocked and saddened when I heard today.
I will miss him.

Just before his health declined, Bucky was helping me, as he did for anyone in need. We all know he had the biggest heart (and smart mouth, lol). We had come into the house to warm up after he had gotten my tractor started and moved into barn. A short while later an alarm clock started going off. This baffled me cause I knew my alarm clock wasn't even plugged in at the time. I'm secretly thinking how, when and who was in my house to plug in my clock??? And this can't be good. So I just choose to ignore it. This is what transpired. Alarm in the background, Bucky is looking at me with strange expression.
Bucky: Don't you hear that?
Me: Yep
Bucky: Aren't you gonna turn it off?
Me: Nope
Bucky: (He looks at me more oddly) Well alright then.
I'm thinking if I tell him my clock wasn't even plugged in, one of two things is happening, he's gonna think I've lost my mind or he'll tear house apart looking for trespasser. So alarm continues and we just keep talking. Some time later I go into bathroom and find his phone on sink with alarm still blaring. I proudly deliver his phone to him with much relief. He had left phone in bathroom and he had some type of alarm on it.
Me: You thought I was crazy didn't you?
Bucky: Well I wondered why you didn't turn off the alarm.
Me: Now you know.
We had one of many good laughs over that one. No matter how much time went by between our visits, we just picked up like it was yesterday.
Bucky, I will miss you driving by mama's and honking your horn when I'm out mowing her yard. Salvisa just won't be the same.

I could tell old stories for days about Bucky. I can’t imagine growing up without him. We had that sibling rivalry (and support) without being siblings. At one point, Bucky and I took care of all the calves on the farm. We got to split the profit for any we sold. Bucky had this; I’ll just call it antique truck because I don’t remember the model (I’ll never forget what it looked like though). He was so proud because he had just had it painted candy apple red or maybe it was fire engine red. We had a calf that had passed and we needed to haul it off. Well Bucky was too busy spit shining his new ride and I was just fussing and fussing you got to help me get this calf today not tomorrow. He gets in the truck (he wanted to go show it off, I mean he had just got it from the shop). I had long fingernails; held them on the hood of his truck said “If you drive off I’m going to scratch your new paint job.” OK so neither of us really thought that would happen, but it did. Four scratches on the driver’s side hood. The look on his face; the fear on my face (I’m laughing now just thinking about it). The biggest fear though, was if my Daddy found out I did it. Bucky promised he wouldn’t tell Daddy on me and he didn’t. Days later, Daddy is checking out the truck, yells over at Bucky “What did you do to your paint job already?” I may have gotten by if not for Kenny Ray saying that’s what Ramonda Ann did. Now Kenny Ray always covered for me too, he just didn’t know any better that time. As with a lot of family and friends; our life paths took us in different directions and it’s sad for me to say the last time I got a big ole bear hug from Bucky was at Kenny Ray’s passing. I know these 2 guys are reminiscing now. RIP you were my youth and I’ll never think of those days without you in it.
Peggy and Charles I am so sorry for your loss. We haven’t been in touch for years but the memory of what loving, caring and supportive parents you two were, I will always remember. Keeping you in my prayers during this unimaginable time.

In high school Bucky and I shared lots of good times. He always had what I call, smiling eyes. It’s been many years since I’ve seen the Gorham family but my thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless!
