I’m so very sorry to hear this. Cindy and I were friends and classmates since 1972. 7th grade. She was a very nice person. I was just talking with her recently. She made me smile when we talked just remembering. I’ll miss seeing her. Prayers to her family and friends.

I loved Cindy. I knew her first in nursing school and then worked with her in the nursery. My husband, Marshall graduated high school with her. She was an awesome friend. Never a dull moment when she was around. She loved the babies. Especially the ones under 5 lbs, they reminded her of her premature daughter Stacy, She called them her “pocket babies”. She is now rocking Stacy and loving on her two nephews and Mom and Dad at the feet of Jesus. Stay strong Diana, you and Chris will be one day reunited with your family God bless you Diana and Chris

Cindy, Diana and I were classmates in Midway College’s nursing program. We studied together, were in clinicals together, and we graduated together. My special memory of Cindy is from our last semester of school. When an unusual computer glitch graded my final exam incorrectly, it looked like I wouldn’t graduate. I was informed this on a Friday afternoon and was given a chance to come in and go over my answers with our professor the following Monday. I saw Cindy that weekend in the grocery and told her I may not graduate. She told me she wasn’t going to our graduation without me. I told her I would still be there, but I may be in the audience. Fortunately it was a computer glitch in scoring my exam, I had actually gotten an 84 on the exam and would graduate. I’m now a nurse practitioner and I’ve never forgotten Cindy saying she wasn’t going to her own graduation ceremony if I couldn’t go. My heart goes out to you, precious Diana. I know Cindy is finally with her little one and she’s with your precious sons.

My dear friend Cindy, we went thru our 20's and most of our 30's hanging out. I have so many fun memories that puts a smile on my face and we went thru some sad times together. I wish we kept in touch thru the past few years, but I know you are up there holding your baby girl Stacy. Until we meet again I'll miss you.L

I am so sad to hear the passing of Cindy. We went to school and graduated high school together. She was a colleague, though I never had the opportunity to work with her. There is a tribute done in some areas that have. The Nightingale tribute. Honoring the passing of a Nurse... I would like to honor Cindy with that honor. It is done by a Nurse. I am an RN, thus paying tribute.
The Nightingale Tribute Reading
Nursing is a calling, a lifestyle, a way of living. Nurses here today
honor our colleague Cindy Whittaker who is no longer with us and
their life as a nurse.Cindy Whittaker,is not remembered by his/her years as a
nurse, but by the difference he/she made during those years by
stepping into people’s lives, by special moments.
She Was There
When a calming, quiet presence was all that was needed,
She was there.
In the excitement and miracle of birth or in the mystery and loss of
life, She was there.
When a silent glance could uplift a patient, family member of
friend, She was there.
At those times when the unexplainable needed to be explained,
She was there.
When the situation demanded a swift foot and sharp mind,
She was there.
When a gentle touch, a firm push, or an encouraging word was
needed, She was there.
In choosing the best one from a family’s “Thank You” box of
chocolates, She was there.
To witness humanity,—its beauty, in good times and bad, without
judgment, She was there.
To embrace the woes of the world, willingly, and offer hope,
She was there
And now, that it is time to be at the Greater One’s side,
She is there.

My sincere sympathy and prayers to Diane and family.

My prayers to the family. Cindy was a doll. She trained me at Kens Korner Mart. She bought me my favorite perfume the first Christmas after my dadfy did. It was the perfume my dad bought me. She told me not to cry when she gave it to me. She took care of 2 of my grandchildren in the nursery. She was a beautiful soul. She will be missed because she made an impact on my life.
