Obituary of Richard Derringer
Richard Derringer, 94, Harrodsburg, KY, husband of Naomi Walls Derringer, died Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at the Ephraim McDowell - James B Haggin Hospital, Harrodsburg. Born December 8, 1925, in Washington Co., he was the son of the late James Erastus and Walsie (Shewmaker) Derringer. Richard was a retired District Director for Federal Crop Insurance and farmer, a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church, a member of the Magnolia Masonic Lodge #201 Mackville, and he was a US Army Veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Judy Derringer of Harrodsburg and Anita (Carroll) Settles of Willisburg; two sons, James Derringer of Harrodsburg and Bob (Leshia) Derringer of Nicholasville; one step-son, Michael Todd Mendel, Charleston, WV; three step-daughters, Debra Samuels, Lawrenceburg, Sandy Clay, Logan, WV, Tammy Thomas, Charleston, WV; one brother, Glenn Derringer of Washington Co.; eleven grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren. He was preceded by a son, Richard Anthony Derringer, and three siblings, Harry and Madison Derringer and Betty Jane Schalck.
Funeral services 1 PM Friday, Dec. 20, 2019, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, by Garland Hawkins and Allen Gibson. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery, Springfield, KY. Visitation will be 5 - 8 PM Thursday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, with Masonic Rites at 7PM.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
