JOHN GARTNER John Gartner, age 89, Harlow Lane, Harrodsburg, husband of Marie Edwards Gartner, died Saturday, September 18, 2004 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center. Born June 12, 1915 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Barna Gartner. He was a retired employee of Shay’s Trucking Company in Dansville, New York, member of the volunteer fire department and Rotary Club in Dansville, was a member of the US Marine Reserves, and was a member of the Catholic Church. He also enjoyed making model sailing vessels. Survivors in addition to his wife include: one son, Denis and his wife Patsy Gartner of New Port Richey, Florida; one daughter, Rita and her husband Thomas Bentley, Harrodsburg; four brothers, Joseph Gartner, Sarasota, Florida, Michael and Richard Gartner both of Kingston, New York, and Edmond Gartner, Danville; three step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren and two step great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert Gartner and a sister Rose Marie Hitchcock. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Monday, September 20th at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Father Joseph Muench. Burial will be in the St. Nicholas Cemetery in Mercer County. Pallbearers are: Doc McKinney, Tom Denny, Charles McCrystal, Paul Enderle, and Bill Huff. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 pm Sunday and after 7:30 am Monday at the chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Nicholas Cemetery Fund.
