Obituary of Martha Sue Mayes

Martha Sue Mayes, 92, Harrodsburg, died Thursday, February 27, 2020, at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born February 25, 1928, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late John Hughes and Grace (Chilton) Whitenack. She was a retired Tour Guide at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, a 1946 Alumnus of Rose Hill High School, and was a longtime member and pianist at Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three children, Susan Yates, Wayne (Kay) Mayes, and Dennis (Rheda) Mayes, all of Harrodsburg; one sister, Wyona Chew of CA; one brother, J. H. Whitenack of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Harris, Lee (Karen) Mayes, Lauren (Michael) Childers, and Andrew Yates; five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Mayes, five siblings, Edwin and Everett Whitenack, Irene and Glendon Whitenack, and Anne Sims, and a son-in-law, Dale Yates.
Graveside services will be 11 AM Tues., March 3, 2020, at the Spring Hill Cemetery Pavilion by Don Reed. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Mon., at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Mercer Senior Citizens Center.
