George Emanuel Wilhite was born May 14, 1941 in Shelby City, Boyle Co., Kentucky and departed this life on Thursday, April 16,2020 at Ephraim McDowell - Haggin Memorial. Mr. Wilhite was the son of the late George Preston and Mary Francis Jewel (Baughman) Wilhite, he attended the Wilsonville School system as a youth and was a lifelong resident of Danville. He worked for Ephraim McDowell early in life and later, the City of Danville, Public Works Department. Mr. Wilhite (Big George) had a passion for people, western movies, fashion, classic cars, and travel. He was a vivid storyteller, and enjoyed sharing stories about his many adventures. He was an awesome uncle to all of his nieces and nephews. His smile and laugh was very contagious. He was preceded in death by his loving parents George and Mary Wilhite; two sisters, Mary Katherine Johnson and Lenora Holman; and one nephew, Leonard Emanuel Fitzgerald. He leaves to mourn one sister Bettie (Lester) Patton; two additional brothers-ln-law, Dallas B. Fitzgerald and Gerald Holman; a number of nieces and nephews, Robert Preston (Judith) Fitzgerald (Manteca, CA), Sandra Steele (Clarksville,TN), Steven Dale Fitzgerald (Danville, KY), Anthony Lee Fitzgerald (Danville,KY), and Dawn and Sherri Holman (White Plains, NY); and a host of great-nieces and nephews, close family and friends. George will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Until we meet again “Big Unc”. Private graveside services by the Rev. Everhart Walker. Burial in the Hilldale Cemetery, Danville, KY.
