Tebbs Shewmaker Moore, former attorney in Harrodsburg, KY and Adjutant General II(retired) of the Kentucky National Guard, died in Cincinnati Ohio on August 8, 2020 after a valiant fight with amyloidosis. He was 83. Tebbs was born November 11, 1936 in Harrodsburg, KY to parents James Harvey Moore and Vivian Tebbs Smith Moore. Growing up in Harrodsburg, he attended McAfee Elementary School and Harrodsburg High School. He graduated from Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, TN, where he played college baseball and tennis. He earned his law degree from the University of Kentucky. Tebbs is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Martha Jane Phillips Moore. He leaves behind his son, James Hartford Moore, and wife Shauna of Cincinnati; his daughter, Elizabeth Anne Moore Hammelrath, and her husband Steve of Cincinnati; sister Marie Moore Copeland and her husband Nelson of Lexington, KY; sister Jamie VanArsdall and her partner Dick of Anacortes, WA; sister Dixie Moore of Lexington, KY; and four grandchildren, William Kiser Moore, Margret Matheny Moore, Anna Marie Hammelrath, and Hans Young Hammelrath, all of Cincinnati. Tebbs’ life was filled with connections, service and faith. He and Martha started their married life in their hometown of Harrodsburg, KY. Tebbs joined his father-in law, William (W.H.) Phillips, to practice law at Phillips & Moore. Working with his father, Jimmy Moore, Tebbs developed a small farm which he could manage while practicing law. During his professional life in Harrodsburg, Tebbs made many contributions to his hometown and state including service as the city attorney, elder of the Harrodsburg Christian Church, and served 34 years in the Kentucky National Guard. When Tebbs retired from his law practice in 2009, he and Martha enjoyed their sunshine years surrounded by a wonderful group of friends in both Harrodsburg, KY and Naples, FL. They maintained a summer home in Cincinnati to enjoy their children and grandchildren. To his family, friends, neighbors and guardsmen, he was a gentle, loyal and solid family man.
