Obituary of Charles M. Stratton

Charles Milton Stratton, 91, husband of Mildred Bernice Goff Stratton of 59 years, died Saturday, August 22, 2020, at the Veterans Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
Born January 16, 1929 and raised in the Dugansville area of Mercer County, he was the son of the late Clyde and Margie Pinkston Stratton. He was an Army veteran and fought in the Korean War where he was wounded and earned the Purple Heart. He later worked at General Electric in Louisville for many years and then farmed in the Salvisa community for retiring to Lawrenceburg. Charles has been a life-long member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was also very active in all the Veteran groups, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors other than his wife include: a son, Gary Reed Stratton of Frankfort; a sister, Barbara Jean Peavler of Louisville; a nephew Kenny Peavler (Donna); a niece Pam Hance (Dennis). There are many great nephews and nieces as well as many cousins.
Services will be 11 AM, Wed., Aug. 26, 2020, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, by John McDaniel and Stephen Brogli. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Tues., Ransdell's.
Pallbearers will be Lee Todd Pinkston, David Moore, Steve Fobare, Ernie Prather, Daniel Hance, Jeff Pinkston, and Glenn Devine.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Leon Stratton, Curtis Sherrow, Bobby Christian, Ralston Puckett, Jeff Young, Bobby Christerson, and Kelly Bugg.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of one's choice.
