Loretta Farmer Wilson, 83, Harrodsburg, KY, died Saturday, September 26, 2020, at her home. Born January 11, 1937, in Leslie County, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Dorcas (Howard) Farmer. She received her nursing degree from the Appalachian Regional Hospital Nursing Program in 1971 and was a proud member of the nursing profession for over forty years and retired from the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Loretta, better known as "Big Mom", was a resident of Harrodsburg, although she never lost her heart for, and love of, the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. She was also a member of the Beechfork United Methodist Church. Survivors include: three daughters, Deborah (David) Shoope, Karen (Bradley) Angell, and Vickie (Richie) Bottoms; four grandchildren, Whitney Shoope, Caleb (Emily) Bottoms, Michael (Jessica) Bottoms, and William Angell; two brothers, John A. & Carl "Spike" Farmer. She was preceded in death by four siblings, Melvin and Derek Farmer, Cova Chappell, and Beulah Wilson. Funeral services will be 1 PM, Thur., Oct. 1, 2020, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Matthew Robbins and Daryl Catlett. Burial will follow in Farmer's Family Cemetery, Stinnett, KY. Visitation will be 10:30 AM until service time on Thursday at Ransdell's. Pallbearers: David Shoope, Bradley Angell, Richie, Caleb & Michael Bottoms and Ryan Farmer.
