I spent a good deal of the day trying to formulate coherent sentences to leave here using all the many emotions and thoughts bouncing around in my head. You see, writing was never a strong point for me. Then I came here and read what my sister has to say and it became very easy....
What she said!!!
I know. Not really appropriate. But it's true. I'd have to think by now he's already been fishing. Drove a classic up and down Hilton Head beach when the beach was the only thing there. He loved to tell the story of a man he knew there that offered to sale him acre lots of what is now the main stretch where the hotels are for $100/acre. Told the guy, why would I want to do that? He would then just laugh. I think the best thing he never did was buy some of that beach before it turned into gold. I wouldn't be writing this. I wouldn't have my Shakespearean sister. I could go on and on listing all the great things he is responsible for due to turning down an offer of a lifetime. Thanks Dad.
It's sank in a lot more today that you are gone. Because of how he was having to live, it has honestly a huge relief for it to be over. It's not easy knowing the man who showed you what it meant to do real honest hard work day after day end up unable to even get out of a bed. But he is without a doubt exactly where Sister says he is doing all she said he was doing. No matter how much more it sinks in, just knowing that will be more than enough to keep me going until we meet again.
Love ya dad.

So sorry to hear about uncle June. I have fond memories of fishing and Fourth of July cookouts at his house . He loved my banana pudding. It had been awhile since I’d seen him. I know my dad his brother is going to miss him. Love and prayers to all of family

In memory of my father. I’ll love you forever!
Written: Tuesday, November 3, 2020
Today ....Heaven received a new angel. So while its hard to know that there will be no more conversations, that I won’t be able to sing old Willie Nelson songs with you anymore, we can’t watch just one more antique car auction and that I laid my head on your shoulder for the last time not too many days ago....my heart rejoices in knowing you are in a better place. While that seems so cliche and it’s what “everyone” says when a loved one is lost - it’s true. I know without a doubt you are sitting on the edge of a fishing pond in Heaven! The heart to heart conversations we recently shared also leave me no doubt that a Promise from my God holds true that you are in fact with Him! No longer confined to a bed and a room that became your world but you are in a place of beauty and perfection. No pain, no fears and no limitations. Today you are free from all the stresses and ailments of this world.
Today... Heaven received a new angel and today... I lost the earthly father that I was given to by the Heavenly Father that called him home.
So daddy, I pray that they let you wear your Trump hat through the pearly gates! I hope the fish are biting and you’re having a ball catching them. I pray that God likes to talk (a lot), that He likes Willie Nelson songs, and that He’s all brushed up on His old car make and model information....and until I’m able to lay my head on your shoulder again - I hold sweet memories of you. I thank God you are with Him and I love you with all my heart.
But best of all....
Today... Heaven received a new angel!

Your tribute to your father is beautiful!! Thank you Martha for your support of Pat. These next several months are going to be very hard for her. She so loved your father and took such good care of him. The house will be so empty without him.
Love, Gloria Burd
