IDA CHITWOOD Ida Chitwood, age 101, formerly of Cardinal Meadows, Harrodsburg went home to forever be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, November 7, 2004 at the Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, California. Born November 20, 1902 in Oneida, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Susan Hensley Gay. She was preceded in death by her husband Coney Chitwood in 1951. She worked in the garment industry as a seamstress and operated a boarding house for University of Cincinnati students until she was 80 years old before retiring in Harrodsburg. Her greatest love was cooking for her family and friends and was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Boyle County. Survivors include two daughters, Anna and her husband Harvey Noel, Lancaster, California, and Patricia and her husband Walter Simmons, Ft. Wright, Kentucky; two sisters, Anna Lee Shaw, Paducah, Kentucky and Julia Pearl Fleener, Louisville, Kentucky; twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Earl Chitwood and two daughters, Gennette Urpin and Virginia Leigh. She will be greatly missed by her large family and many friends. Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 am Saturday, November 13th at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Harold Best. Burial will be in the Eubank Cemetery in Pulaski County, Kentucky. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 am until the hour of service at the chapel Memorial contributions are suggested to the Gideon Bible Fund.
