Obituary of Alice G. Herman

Alice G. Herman, 95, Perryville, KY, died Sunday at her home. Born December 6,1925, in West Minton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Rev Mark A. and the late Alice (Harmon) Herman. She was a "Pioneer Nurse" working in the hills of Eastern Kentucky and villages in Alaska. She gathered her education in pieces along the way, often repaying tuition with brief periods of teaching. She taught at Penn State, Berea College, Morehead State University and the University of KY. She obtained her Ph.D. in higher education from London University, England. Alice is survived by: a niece, Gina Sansone of Frankfort, KY; and nephew, Robert Vanderslice of Virginia Beach, VA. Alice's Memorial Service will be at Saint Andrew's Anglican Church, 115 Paddock Drive, Versailles, KY. on Tuesday, January 12th, at 10:00 AM. The church has safety protocols in place for anyone that wants to attend: When you arrive, please come in the office door (all other doors are locked). This entrance is at the back of our building and is marked with a sign. You will be greeted by an usher who will take your temperature, offer you hand sanitizer and make sure you are wearing a face covering (required). At the sanctuary you will be greeted by a second usher who will help you find a seat. You may sit with the people you came with, but by groups no larger than 3. We will have socially-distanced seating marked where you may choose to sit. Please keep your face covering on at all times. Only two people may use the restrooms at a time. Please spray disinfectant spray (provided) on any surface you touch before leaving the restroom. We ask that you leave the building immediately following the funeral and do not linger to socialize.
