Obituary of Effie Dolores Hamner
Please share a memory of Effie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Effie D. McQueary Hamner, 77, of Lancaster, passed away on February 12, 2021. Effie was born January 23, 1944 to Aubrey and Wallace Irene Luster McQueary in Yosemite, KY. She had many brothers and sisters – Audrey Browning, Deva Bottom, Pauline Tyler, George, Diana Heinly, Dorothy Schlenker, Albert, Clayton and 3 infant siblings. After graduating Perryville High School, she went on to nursing school and obtained her LPN license.
Effie met her late husband, Clifford Hamner through a fellow classmate (his sister - Kay). They married in November 1968 and went on to have 3 children – Daniel, Andrew and Dorothy (Chris Wethington) and eventually 3 grandchildren – Ashley and Luke Wethington and Wyatt Hamner. Effie stayed at home to raise the children, help with farming, and gardening. She was passionate about her quilting and when she wasn’t filling our homes with warmth and kindness, she would be in her rocker reading a book or playing scrabble on her tablet.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother, Effie also held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. She was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church, Lancaster for nearly 50 years.
Visitation will be Friday, February 19 from 5-8 PM, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Funeral services are Saturday, February 20 at 11 am with Bro Keith Weldon officiating. Burial will follow in the Springhill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, KY.
Pallbearers are David Schlenker, Morris Schlenker, Morris Schlenker Jr., Steven Tyler, Paul Tyer and Clayton Tyler. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to Heritage Hospice as this organization was important to her.
