Mom's last healthy Christmas. Healthy and silly as ever.

My mother was a very eclectic and special person. She was real. No pretense. And she loved to be silly.
Now that a few years have passed, I miss all the normal interactions the most. I was blessed to have her in my home often during her treatments. That time was truly a blessing. The phone calls. Her listening ear, although we didn't always agree. We shared a love of the medical, and I actually got to boss her around a little as a resident when she was still an RT. If she were alive, she would be the first to let me know residents are not in charge.
Like all of us, she had good and bad times. Mom always took us to dance lessons (even opening a dance school). She made sure we had interesting 80s fabulous dinners (like taco salad casseroles). Her costumes were nothing short of amazing, fit for broadway in their detail. She was there for me with an open door when I fell down, and helped to guide me through that dark time after my residency.
She found a general happiness in her life through the years and got to enjoy herself often with trips and her homes. She loved a bargain and I still go to the peddlers malls to just pretend she is there with me. To this day I cannot go past the grape popsicles without crying. I trust in HIs grace that we will see each other again. And until then life is just a lot more boring.

Marianne Jeffy posted a condolence

I am Marianne Jeffy, Brooke's mother-in-law. Donna was so gracious in sharing her daughter, Brooke, with the Jeffy family. As I got to know Donna, I got the biggest kick out of her wry sense of humor. Sometimes I felt like we were in Jr High sharing private jokes together.
Donna was an artistic/talented seamstress. She made the most beautiful veil to go with Brooke's wedding dress.
I believe that Donna had many talents and a heart of gold. I will miss her.
My deepest sympathy to all family and friends who knew and loved Donna.
Sincerely,
Marianne Jeffy

My name is Anne-Marie Brady. My memories of Donna began the day she and her family moved to Fairground Road. I first met Donna the day she walked across the street to tell us that our dog Lassie had been hit by a car and asked if I needed help. We found that we had much in common: she had 3 girls and I had 4 girls, we loved shopping (she always knew where to find the best bargains), crafts, sewing and animals. The yearly Derby parties (Donna made the best green beans ever) and Rough River weekends. When I needed help with activities for my Alzheimer patients, Donna did not hesitate to gave a helping hand as a volunteer. In 2001 we moved away from Fairground Road. Life became busier and we saw less of each other. I will always cherish my friendship with Donna. She touched my life in a very special way. Goodbye my dear friend, you and your family will always be in my heart and prayers.
