Margaret G. Allison
Margaret Gentry Maggie Allison, age 90, widow of James Warder Allison, Sr. died Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born in Harrodsburg on January 15, 1914 to the late Harvey and Margaret Hanna Gentry. She graduated from high school at age sixteen as salutatorian of her class and attended Centre College. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She has worked as a cafeteria supervisor for the Harrodsburg Independent School System, was an office worker at the former Broaddus Department Store, and as a sales clerk at the former Gem Drug Store until her retirement.
Survivors include three sons, James (Elizabeth)Allison, Jr., Lexington, Richard (Deborah) Allison, Dallas, Texas, and John (Carolyn) allison of Indianapolis, Indiana; three daughters, Sara Allison, Harrodsburg, Elizabeth (Johnny) Minassian, Glendale, California, and Mary Ellen Allison, Mahwah, New Jersey; a sister Sara Langston, Bradenton, Florida; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a special companion Sandy Silver.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 15th at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: Rick Allison, Phillip Allison, Arman Minassian, Allen Minassian, Chris Walls, Fred Schaefer, and Jack Moreland. Honorary bearers are: John Currans, Mary Fister, and the Staff of McDowell Place in Danville, KY.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 pm Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday at the chapel.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Albert B. Allison Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky.
