Obituary of Irene Hicks

Margaret Irene Hicks, 94, Harrodsburg, KY, widow of Marshall Votaw and Floyd Hicks, died Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Frankfort Regional Medical Ctr., Frankfort, KY. Born January 5, 1928, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Willis and Leona (Gritton) Peavler. Irene was a retired Cudahy Cheese Plant Employee, had worked at Corning Inc., was a member of the Cornishville Christian Church, and had attended Magnolia Street Christian Church for several years. Survivors include: two daughters, Shari (John McPherson) Gash of Harrodsburg and Wanda (Roger) Alford of Danville; one son, Gene (Diane) Votaw of Harrodsburg; one sister, Helen Isham of Harrodsburg; one brother, J. B. Peavler of OH; six grandchildren, Chris & Jamie Votaw, Brandon Alford, Sarah (Patrick Denham) Jenkins, Stacey (John) Rider, and Amy (Aaron) Warner; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer Charles and Ryan Clark; eighteen great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Votaw, and nine siblings, Willis Earl, Leon, Condit, Marvin, Lawrence, Donald, and Edward Peavler, Sarah Peavler, and Jewell Tobey. Funeral services will be 2 PM, Wed., Feb. 23, 2022, by Aaron Warner, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, KY. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until the hour of service Wednesday, Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers: Gene & Chris Votaw, John Rider, Aaron Warner, Roger Alford and John McPherson.
