Dorothea “Dottie” Sims, 88, Harrodsburg, KY, wife of David Ray Sims, died Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville, KY. Born May 13, 1933, in Mercer Co., KY, she was the daughter of the late David L. and Minnie Lee (Rose) Burchell. She was a retired Director of the Community Development Agency of Danville and was a longtime member of the Burgin Baptist Church, where she had served on many committees and sang in the choir. Dottie was also a former Burgin City Council Member, a Kentucky Colonel, Breast Cancer Survivor and Prevention Advocate, and had been active in the Oleika Shrine Temple of Lexington Ladies Club. Other survivors include: two daughters, Lou Anne (Tommy) Ison of Lexington, KY and Cheryl Currens of Mercer Co., KY; three grandchildren, Lyndsey (Jason) Brinegar of Lexington, KY, LauraLee Currens and Kasey Currens, both of Mercer Co.; five great grandchildren, Dylyn, Gabi, & Braxton Brinegar, and Jada & Harlee Satterly; special caregivers, Carolyn Arnold and Shari Gash. Dottie was preceded in death by a grandson, Sawyer Currens, and a step-mother, May S. Burchell. Funeral services will be 3 PM, Sat., April 30, 2022, at the Burgin Baptist Church by Carl McCray and Jack Coleman. Burial will follow in Burgin Memorial Garden, Burgin, KY. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until 3 PM, Saturday, Burgin Baptist Church. Pallbearers: Tommy Ison, Jack Coleman, Jason, Dylyn, & Braxton Brinegar, and Kevin Meredith. Honorary bearers: Oleika Shrine Temple of Lexington Ladies Club .
