We are sad to announce the passing of Debra Walker of Nicholasville, KY. She died at age 61 on October 28, 2022, following a long illness.
Debra was born in Washington, D.C. to Dale and Patricia Keenum on November 20, 1960. At age 25, she was united with her biological father, Eugene Knipp. She graduated from Raceland High School in 1977 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Morehead State University. She worked as a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Financial Planner for 41 years in several locations, including Maysville, Kentucky; Columbia, Missouri; Harrodsburg, Kentucky and Nicholasville, Kentucky. Debra previously served as a Jessamine County Chamber Board Member, Nicholasville Rotary Club President & Treasurer, Fort Harrod Business and Professional Women’s Group Member, Trabue Chapter Member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and Harrodsburg Baptist Church Trustee.
Debra is survived by her significant other, Gary Walker; her children, Jana Walker (Dennis Rehrer) and John Walker; her mother Patricia Dean McLaurin Keenum; her father and stepmother, Eugene and Grace Knipp; her brothers, Rick Keenum (Patty), Billy Knipp (Lisa) and David Knipp (Cheri); her sisters Diana Dodds (Phil) and Goldie Cumpton (Keith); her nieces, Tori Knipp, Cari Knipp, Lauren Knipp, Julianna Knipp and Leela Dodds; and her nephews, Michael Keenum, Matthew Keenum, Andrew Dodds, and Ethan Dodds. She is preceded in her death by her father, Dale Keenum, and her stepfather, Jesse McLaurin.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 1 from 4pm-7pm at Ransdell Funeral Chapel in Harrodsburg, KY, with a funeral service immediately following. Memorial donations may be made to Camp Nelson Honor Guard, 215 Christopher Lane, Nicholasville, KY 40356.
