Obituary of Wanda Watkins

Wanda Sue Blake Watkins, 70, Harrodsburg, KY, widow of John Wayne Watkins, died Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the UK Medical Center, Lexington. Born December 29, 1952, in Leslie County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Boyd and Omie (Harris) Blake. She was a retired Cosmetologist for Regis Hair Salon and was a Baptist. She loved gardening, painting, sewing, and was an animal lover. Her real joy came from time with her grandchildren. Survivors include: three daughters, Deana Watkins (Ronnie) Compton of Mercer Co., KY, Missy Watkins (Mark) Henson of Mercer Co., KY and Stephanie Watkins of Lawrenceburg, KY; two sisters, Lillie (E.J.) Bailey of Harrodsburg, KY and Linda (Richard) Trent of Hazard, KY; one brother, Jack (Doris) Blake of TN; ten grandchildren, Contessa (Justin) Dunn, Lyndon (Kenzie) Compton, Trey (Audra) Compton, Carlee (Aaron) Ross, Camdon Morgan Henson, Cloey T. Henson, Lensey Rachel Faust, Layne (Collin) Faust Reynolds, Gracie Isabel Watkins, and John Brayden Watkins; thirteen great grandchildren, Kylee, Emma, Rylan, Sutton, Cash, Kora, Cayson, Silas, Caroline, Oakley, Maren, Caroline, and Callie. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM, Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the Salem Christian Church, Grassy Creek, KY, by Greg Warren. Burial will follow in Perkins Family Cemetery, Grassy Creek, KY. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until the hour of service Tuesday at Salem Christian Church. Pallbearers are: Lyndon, Trey, and Ronnie Compton, Camdon and Mark Henson, Justin Dunn, and Aaron Ross.
