Obituary of Linda Byrd

Linda Byrd, 71, Harrodsburg, KY, wife of Wayne Byrd, died Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at the The Willows at Harrodsburg. Born March 4, 1952, in Owen County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Bobby Gene and RoseMary (Anderson) Estes. Linda worked eight years for the Kentucky Department of Revenue where she met Wayne, her future husband. After the birth of their children, she became a full-time mother until they reached school age. At that time she returned to work for the Mercer County School System until her retirement. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church and the Christian Friends Bible Study Class at HBC. Linda had taught Sunday School classes grades 2 & 3 with her husband, she was a member of the WMU and past director of WMU at HBC, had served as leader in the GA's and Acteens, worked with her husband in the RA program, and had been a nursery volunteer. Linda enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting ceramics, doing puzzles, and spending time with family. She spent many enjoyable hours with friends, the late Darrell Agee, and his wife, Judy, on a special project painting and decorating sections of the church for hosting of a state WMU convention. Other survivors include: one daughter, Christine (Bubba) Briscoe of Harrodsburg, KY; one son, Michael Byrd of Harrodsburg, KY; three sisters, Norma (Maurice) Smither of Versailles, KY, Ann (Jim) Daniel of Frankfort, KY and Brenda (Jerry) Handy of Owenton, KY; a grandson, Brandon Briscoe of Harrodsburg, KY; several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, August 14, 2023, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Jonathan Johnston and Leonard Marr. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, KY. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until the hour of service Monday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers are Brandon and Bubba Briscoe, Michael Byrd, Brandon Smither, David Grieve, and Roy Turley.
