Obituary of Marcella Coe Moore

On August 27th, 2023, Marcella Moore passed away peacefully at the age of 87. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother of a family who loved her dearly. Marcella had a passion for teaching and received her Elementary Teaching degree from the University of Kentucky in 1972. She taught for 27 years, most of the time in 4th grade. Marcella loved gardening, sewing, cooking, painting and being with family. She was kind and generous and truly loved the Lord, her church family and studying the Bible. Believing in God helped her through many challenges throughout her life. She was a long time member of the Harrodsburg Church of Christ. Marcella was born in Poplar Log, Kentucky and grew up on the family farm of Turkey Neck Bend in Tompkinsville, Kentucky. Marcella was the last remaining child of the late Fred and Pollie Coe. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Harley Moore, her sister, Ila Coe and two brothers, Ivan Coe and Ray Coe and a grandson, Michael Kyle Vah. She is survived by daughters, Barbara (Charles) Barnett, Mary (Mike) Mirre and son, Daniel (Patricia) Moore, her beloved grandchildren, Melissa Barnett, Jeff (Julie) Barnett, Chris (Stacy) Barnett, Mollie (Ian) Trusedell, Marlee (Jared) Young, Mackenzie (Scott) Tabeling and two great grandchildren as well as two sister in laws, Frances Moore and Geraldine Coe and many cherished nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday; 8/30 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Mike Estes. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, KY. Visitation will be from 10-1 PM Wednesday. The family has asked for memorial donations to go to: St.Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude PL Memphis TN, 38105-9959.
