Obituary of Walter Monroe, Jr.

Walter Monroe Jr.,77 of Harrodsburg KY, died Thursday September 7, 2023 at home with his loving wife Bobbie Jo Conn Monroe of almost 40 years and close family. He was born August 15, 1946, in Mercer County. Walter was the son of the late Walter and Dorothy (Anderson) Monroe Sr. He retired from the Kentucky State Transportation Cabinet and started farming. Other survivors include: one daughter; Jessica (Shawn) Monroe; two sisters: Linda (Marshall) Thompson and Judy (Chuck) McQuilliam, and two brothers: Allen (Carolyn) Monroe and Charlie (Melissa) Monroe,; Two Grandsons, Shane (Destiny) Young and Londen (Kassidy) Young; Great Grandson, Abel Shane Young; Sister In Law, Brandy Yocum; Two Brother In Laws, Jimmy (Missy) Conn and John Conn; Two Nieces Ashley (John) Jenkins and Melinda (Justin) Smith; Three Nephews, Cody (Brianna) Monroe, Brandon Monroe and Derrick Monroe; Two Great Nieces, Tennleigh Jenkins and Merritt Smith. Two Great Nephews, Oaklen Jenkins and Samuel Smith; Aunt, Brenda Semones; Special Family and Friends, Howard (Charlotte) Fallis, Terry (Terresa) Hoskins and Lela Stewart. Funeral services 1:00 PM September 12th at Ransdell Funeral Chapel officiated by Tony Thompson and Howard Fallis . Burial will follow in The New Providence Cemetery, Harrodsburg, KY. Visitation will be 5 - 8 PM Monday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY. Pall bearers will be: Londen Young, Shane Young, Travis Logue, Brandon Monroe, Cody Monroe and Dale Sexton. Honorary Bearers are: David and Donald Sexton, Derrick Monroe, Allen Bush, Bill Wilson, David Thompson, Marshall Allen Thompson, Steve Carrier, Joe Sanders, Jimmy Scott Conn, Tommy Tribble, Howard Fallis, Charlotte Fallis, Kenny Shackleford, Kevin Claunch, Melinda Smith, Justin Smith, Ashley Jenkins and John Jenkins.
