Doris Jean (Carey) Watts, 88, Harrodsburg, KY, died Monday, October 2, 2023, at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center, Harrodsburg. She was widow of Raymond Watts, having been married for 59 years. Born December 19, 1934, in Mercer County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Lemuel and Cora Ann (Tyler) Carey. Doris graduated from the Rose Hill High School and retired as secretary for her husband’s Shelter Insurance Agency. She was a long time member of the Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church and was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. Doris also enjoyed fishing, shopping for antiques, traveling and spending time with family.

Survivors include: two daughters, Debra Watts and Teresa (Steve) Gash, both of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren, Carey (Dustin) Wilson and Kelly Gash Griffieth; great grandchildren, Carter, Jude and Lincoln Wilson, Anna Kate and Jocelyn Griffieth. Doris was preceded in death by a brother, William Wesley Carey, and a sister, Ruth Ellis.

The family wanted to extend a special thank you to her caregivers; Pat Linton and Connie Brandenburg, Heritage Hospice and the staff at Harrodsburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral Services will be 1 PM, Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023by Jonathan Johnston and Shelby Tyler. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, KY. Visitation will be from 11 AM - 1 PM Thursday, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Steve Gash, Dustin, Carter, and Jude Wilson, Gary Ellis and Harold Baker. Honorary Bearers will be Connie Wayne Ellis, Pat Linton, and Connie Brandonburg.
