Dorothy Mae Carey, 90, widow of Carl B. Carey, died Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Harrodsburg Health & Rehabilitation Facility. She was born April 1, 1933, in Mercer County; she was the daughter of the late George and Belle (Hart) Patterson. Dorothy was a dedicated Bus Monitor and Crossing Guard for Mercer County School Systems for a very long time before she retired at the age of 84. She was also a member of Willing Workers Sunday School Class at Bruners Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include: One daughter: Melanie (Carlos) Lane; Two sons: Carl Brent Carey and Shane Carey all of Harrodsburg, KY; Two Granddaughters; Ashley Lane and Jennifer Slone; Two Grandsons; Matthew Carey and Zachary Carey; One Great Grandson; Waylon Carey. Dorothy was preceded in death by her two sisters Bertie Rose Releford and Minnie Robinson.
Visitation will be 11am-2pm December 16th, 2023 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will start at 2pm and will be officiated by Schylar Fields. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, KY.
Pallbearers: Matt Carey, Zach Carey, David Hart, Matt Hart, Neil Slone, Ronnie Robinson, Will Azmat and Jamie Newman. Honorary Pallbearers: Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
