Amanda Bush Whalen, Mandy, age 85, of Danville, widow of William Owen “Wimpy” Whalen Jr., died Saturday, February 10, 2024 at home. Mandy was born October 16, 1938 in Perry County, KY. She is the daughter of the late Ed and Ella (Combs) Bush. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of WMU. Mandy was also a writer for Mercer Magazine for the Harrodsburg Herald.
She is survived by two daughters, Toni (Stephen) Trisler and Debbie Horsley of Salvisa, KY; one son, William Owen (Bethany) Whalen III of Lawrenceburg, KY; two sisters, Gladys Couch and Stella Smith of Manchester, KY; She also has five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Mandy was preceded in death by her sisters, Loretta Day and Judy Bush, and brothers, Danny Bush, Lyndon Bush and Paul Bush.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 E. Lexington St., Harrodsburg, KY with Stephen Brogli officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 13 from 5-8pm at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
Pallbearers: Jonathan Trisler, Gary Lee Dixon, Ernie Newton, Vaughn Jones, Keghan Jones, Aden Royster and Jonathan Kays.
