Obituary of Bessie Steele Votaw

Bessie Steele Votaw, 96, of Harrodsburg KY, widower of Paul Taylor Votaw, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday June 19, 2024. Born May 31, 1928; in Mercer County KY, she was the daughter of the late Garnett and Betty (Brown) Steele. Bessie retired after 33 years as an employee of Corning Glass in Harrodsburg KY. Bessie was a member of Bluegrass Pike Baptist Church, Danville KY. She loved cooking, sewing and enjoyed talking to people. Survivors include; Three sons, Paul Steven (Ann) Votaw of Lawrenceburg KY, David Keith (Lisa) Votaw, of Stanford KY and Cecil Smith, Harrodsburg KY. Eight grandchildren and Thirteen great grandchildren. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband Paul Taylor Votaw, Son Mike (Betty) Votaw, Siblings; Garnett Jr., Harold C. Steele and Betty Lee Sluder, as well as a grandson Matthew Carter. Funeral Services will be Saturday June 22, 2024 at Ransdell Fuenral Chapel, 345 E. Lexington Street Harrodsburg KY, 40330, at 11am officiated by Pastor Travis Alltop. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg KY. Visitation will be Friday June 21, 2024 from 4pm-8pm. Pallbearers: Derek Wilson, Patrick Votaw, Ty Barnett, Cecil Smith, Chris Pollett and David Reilly. Honorary Bearers: JT Votaw, Johnny Thompson, Derek Votaw, Jerry Bell, Dr.Mark Tussey, Troy Stratton, JD Smith, Tom Hogg, Kevin Good, Charlie Wilkerson, Richard Reilly, Kaye Burton and Patricia Hildebarndt. Memorials are suggested to Bluegrass Pike Baptist Church (Missions Fund), 1400 Bluegrass Pike, Danville KY, 40422 and Ninevah Christian Church (Children’s Ministry), 1195 Ninevah Rd.
