James Paul Murray, age 79, husband of Robin (Cinnamon) Murray, died Thursday, August 1, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born May 24, 1945 in Lexington and raised in Beattyville, he was the son of the late Roderick Lafayette and Mattie (Pendergrass) Murray. James Paul was a member of The Pioneer Baptist Church, he was a retired Regional Sales Director for Bankers Fidelity Insurance Company and a Kentucky Colonel. After College he started teaching and selling insurance during the summers, he enjoyed teaching but decided that the insurance was a better way to go. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting. He was also the biggest Kentucky Wildcat fan ever, that would never miss watching a ball game; UK, grandchildren’s games and the occasional game that he had no ties at all.

He is survived by his wife: Robin (Cinnamon) Murray , one daughter: Julie Murray and one son Shannon (Shannon) Murray of Harrodsburg; a brother: Dr.Roderick Lafayette(Jennie) Murray II of Nashville; seven grandchildren: Paul Blake Murray, Tyler Murray, Kaleb Murray, Hailey Murray, Mykayla Steele, Kyleigh Curtsinger and Karmen Murray; four Great Grandchild: Atlas Curtsinger, Aria Curtsinger, Miley Steele and Macey Steele. He was also partial to his niece: Chelsea Coy, and nephews: Taylor and Lafe Murray. He was preceded in death by two sons: James Paul Murray Jr. and Jonathan Lee Murray.

Pallbearers: Donald Sexton, Dennis Sherrod, Bill Hollan, Mike Moore, Kevin Armstrong, Charles McFerron, Rafael Ayala and Sig Symms. Honorary Pallbearers: Jerry Smith, Dale Cinnamon, David Cinnamon, Jeremy Coy, Harold Baker, Art Baker, Sam Bowman, James Sipple, Jeff Cline and Tony Carey.

The funeral will be held 12pm on Tuesday, August 6 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 E. Lexington Street, Harrodsburg, KY with Terry Morrison, James McCarroll and Steven Dresen officiating. Burial will follow Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg on Tuesday, August 6. Visitation will be held Monday; August 5, 2024 from 5-9pm, at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
