Douglas Wayne "Doug" Long Obituary

Douglas Wayne “Doug” Long, 74, of Harrodsburg, KY, husband of Donna Marie (Banks) Long, died Friday, August 2, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born February 16, 1950, in Mercer County, Doug was the son of Betty (Robinson) Lowden and the late Norman Pinkston. After working 36 years Doug retired from the Mechanic shop at Corning. Doug previously attended Burgin Baptist Church where he was a trustee. He was a current member of Danville Church of God. Doug had a passion for horses, motorcycles, and vintage cars. Most importantly, he loved his family!


Survivors other than his wife and mother include: four daughters: Missy (Chris) Bradford, Michelle (Troy) Cheak, Angela (James) Russell and Melanie (Lee) Qualls all of Harrodsburg, a sister: Kathy “Kid” (Jeff) McBee and one brother: Steve (Tammy) Carr, both of Danville.

grandchildren Jordan Cheak, Jesalyn Bradford, Jackson Qualls, Jacob Qualls and Mason Cheak; Great Granddaughter: Journey Howard; and a very Special Niece and Nephew: Lisa and Logan Nichols. Doug was preceded in death by his grandson, Jonah Cheak; his first wife, Cathy Cole Long and his father, Norman Pinkston.


Funeral services will be held at 1 pm, Wednesday, August 7 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Brother Carl McCray, David Woodward and Melanie Qualls. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, KY. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Tuesday, August 6, also at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.


Pallbearers are: Chris Bradford, Troy Cheak, James Russell, Lee Qualls, Logan Nichols, Jackson Qualls, Jacob Qualls and Mason Cheak.


Jesalyn Bradford, Journey Howard, Jordan Cheak and Lisa Nichols are to serve as honorary pallbearers.
